Austin will be starring in “Sentimental Journey”, a presentation by the Captiva Island Historical Society.
He plays a man named Vernon, reading letters that were sent to him by Mom, Dad, Sister, and friends, from his home on Captiva while he was in the war in Europe around 1943-4.
There will be a set depicting a study in a Captiva home, and scenes of events of the times will be shown on a screen as he reads the letters. An instrumentalist, Terri Schafer, will play songs “of the day” between letters.
Ticket price is $12, with complimentary, reserved tickets for WW II veterans and spouses of WW II veterans.
