Leonard Wells

In 1978, while immersed in the music scene in Athens GA, Austin took his band to Stone Mountain Recording, near Atlanta, to lay down this haunting track about a retired realroad engineer.  Notable among his bandmates on the session is Brian Burke, who performed often with Austin at Athens’ “Last Resort” night club, and went on to form the popular “Normaltown Flyers” band.

A co-founder of the “Resort”, Terry “Mad Dog” Melton, played a huge role in the dynamic music scene of those years, and Austin provides a vivid evocation of his exploits with Terry and Brian in “Mad Dog’s Rembrandt” from his 2010 album, “In The Blue Ago“.
